Our Story:
After a decade of working as a public school teacher, God presented me with the opportunity to begin homeschooling my youngest two sons. We discovered a freedom and opportunities that we never knew we’d missed out on while in public school. We were able to make learning a lifestyle, rather than a chore or checklist.
The only thing missing from our sweet homeschool mornings was a community of friends to learn alongside us, partners to collaborate and explore with, teammates to cheer us on and push us forward. And that is why we created Gateway Learning - to form a community of learners and families who would harmonize to become a joyous representation of what can be accomplished when we pursue knowledge together, faithfully stewarding the resources and ideas He has given us to serve the children He loves so dearly.
From the start, our classroom has resembled homeschooling in a large family. We have seen the incredible benefits of learning alongside others of diverse backgrounds and different ages. As I began to see the vision God had given me come to life in our new school, I was able to reconsider my educational philosophy as a whole and several months after we opened, I began hearing and reading about the work of Charlotte Mason. Reading her words was like a coming home for me. Her principles resonated so deeply with my vision of what education can and should be.
I am daily grateful for the opportunity to serve the families of our community with this life-giving method of education. We are excited about the way God is growing and shaping our little school and can’t wait to see where He will lead. And we pray He will continue to bring other children and families who desire to be a part of such a sweet little learning community!
Our Vision
To instill a lifelong hunger for learning by using students’ curiosities and imaginations as fuel to ignite passion-driven, joyful exploration of the world around them.
Our Core Values
Curiosity…
and imagination are gifts of childhood and keys to learning.
Creativity…
is both a tool for learning and an expression of learning. Kids’ ideas matter and their minds are each unique and capable.
Character…
is developed through rich literature, cooperative experiences, habit training, and opportunities to grapple with a feast of living ideas.
Courage…
is bolstered by an education that values the individual child and supports him in the development of Biblical discipline and discernment.
Community…
and relationships are the lifeline of meaningful education. Teachers, parents, and students work together to create connections and build positive, lasting relationships.
Our Faith
At Gateway Learning, we whole-heartedly and unashamedly believe that the Bible is a necessary and foundational source of education to which every human being has a right. We recognize that all knowledge comes from above and that there is a powerful opportunity to be given to students when they learn about the Bible and who God is alongside their lessons in history, citizenship, geography, science, and really every subject. There are so many important connections made this way!
Why Choose Gateway Learning?
At Gateway Learning, students receive more individualized attention, greater parent involvement, and deeper learning opportunities than they would in a traditional classroom setting.
Gateway students learn through the science of relations. Living ideas become a part of them as they make personal connections across content areas.
